Veterinary staff confront 5 times more patient death than their human health counterparts. The resulting stress on individual members of the staff is an area not fully acknowledged during the euthanasia process. In a recent practice manager survey, 88% stated that a clinic training program to effectively help pet owners deal with the loss of a pet would be beneficial to their practice. Our program provides both practical educational support for clinic care staff and integrated, expert-endorsed client materials that enhance compassionate communication surrounding the loss of a pet.
Our innovative pet loss support program was first launched in Canada at the 1st International Congress on Communication in Veterinary Medicine. Delegates from around the world supported the primary notion that pet loss communication is undervalued and underdeveloped.
